Mental Conditioning
|
The integration of the mind and body is critical for complete development. This training conditions the mind for greater focus, enhanced clarity, and the ability to maintain calmness regardless of the situation. This mind/body fusion allows for greater physical and psychological balance, and greatly enhances effectiveness on every level.
The practical understanding of energy development and focus is also critical to training; including how to willfully subdue it ('ghostwalking'). This develops an understanding not only for practical field applications, but for the greater possibilities such an enhanced focus can offer.

The understanding of the psychological aspects of personal combat are important aspects of the training. The student learns how to utilize an aggressor's intention, thereby rapidly gaining control of a situation. Understanding psychological tactics and how to apply them realistically is crucial for personal security and the safety of others.

Above all, maintaining focus and center in the face of hostility is essential for survival. It is an important understanding that we can maintain security for ourselves and others not by becoming hostile and overtly aggressive, but by being aware. This prevents us from putting ourselves and others in harm's way needlessly. However, if we unavoidably find ourselves in a hostile situation, being aware allows us to act decisively and appropriately, controlling the situation without apprehension.

"Hence to fight and conquer in battles is not supreme excellence; supreme excellence is in defeating the enemy without fighting." - Sun-Tzu, The Art of War
