The System

Mongoose-Within-A-Circle utilizes a wide range of open hand techniques- including elements of Chinese Iron Fist, Iron Palm, and other striking techniques; soft techniques (momentum and low center oriented deflections, take-downs, and captures); and internal training (including elements of Qigong, and other healing arts). Also incorporated are elements of Wu Chang, a striking system using the critical pressure points and nerve centers of the body. The practical understanding of weapons extraction and personal defensive tactics are important aspects of the training. The understanding and application of body mechanics, energy, and balance is also an integral part of the training.

All of the elements of the training are synthesized into a very balanced whole, allowing the student a learning dynamic that is not only beneficial, but easily tailored to fit an individual's specific needs. The students learn to develop mind/body fusion, personal control, calmness of mind, and a sense of centeredness.

With self-discipline, a greater sense of self-trust, and the capacity to create possibilities and experiences for themselves, a student can achieve potentials and abilities that otherwise may have remained hidden and untapped. For many, this training represents a personal recovery process. The students learn how to breathe, how to be still, how to focus, and, most importantly, how to empower themselves- not only for self -protection, but for living with humility, compassion, and greater awareness.

Mongoose-Within-A- Circle, also known as Ji Shu Khan, is based on the teachings of the ancient Chinese Taoist monastery, and was created by Tenth-Degree Grandmaster Yuen Khan of China (the teacher of Master Yue Fei). Grandmaster Khan believed that no system is complete within itself, so created this system by incorporating many styles of martial arts, using only specific, field-tested techniques that have proven their effectiveness in actual combat environments.

Grandmaster Khan was raised and trained in Southern China. From a very early age, the focus of his training was effective application. This full-contact training was conducted not for sport, but for survival. Because of the seriousness of this purpose, the world's most efficient teachers were his instructors. His system is a culmination of his vast experience teaching and applying multiple combat forms and techniques all over the world- not only to provide an efficient dynamic for survival, but as a tool for personal development and healing.

Master Yue Fei continues to add to this system from his own experiences and understandings. This is an organic, ever-evolving system; as students are able to make internal connections and understandings of their own, a unique personal experience unfolds, transcendent over the techniques themselves. Within this dynamic, a student can re-vitalize the 'Spiritual Warrior' within, learning and growing towards possibilities with new, greatly enhanced perceptions.
